Math Redesign: evolution - Not Revolution

If you worked on a math redesign of any kind last year and you didn't reach your goal, that's not unusual. Change with such considerable elements takes a lot of people, resources, and time. The secret is to just keep going. Redesign is an evolution, not a revolution.

The video below describes a way to jump-start the change you want to see in your math class, placement, policies, or outcomes. This is the same process to get any change, math-related or not, off the ground and out of the idea phase.

Last, with the recent boom in COVID-19 cases and entering the third year of the pandemic, it's normal not to be full of energy for a new semester or a comprehensive reform. Instead of quitting, start with one change and see it through. Even if it's small, the sense of completion and progress can provide some much-needed optimism.
