Erin Sagaskie is a mathematics educator with over 23 years of experience teaching math in high schools and community colleges. Erin earned her M.S. in mathematics and Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Southern Illinois University. During the last 19 years at Carbondale Community High School, Erin taught a variety of math classes including dual credit courses in Statistics and Contemporary Math, transitional math, AP Calculus, co-taught Algebra 1, Algebra Intervention, and everything between. Erin also taught for alternative high school programs and at John A. Logan College, where she is currently an adjunct math professor. Erin is involved in a multitude of curriculum projects through the Dana Center, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the XQ Institute, most recently working on design standards for an integrated course in Quantitative Reasoning and Statistics as well as project-based learning modules for XQ Math Algebra I. Erin’s expertise and passion are working to remove barriers to quality education for underserved populations and to challenge policies and structures that sustain those barriers.
