Using Desmos for Online Testing

Authors: Kathleen Almy and Maria Andersen

Today I was participating in a Q&A session offered by Maria Andersen for our April cohort of college math and science faculty. Maria gave a full day, live workshop series a few Saturdays ago. Now we're in the 4 weeks of ongoing mentoring and support, which includes additional training and weekly live Q&A sessions. We had some requests last week for more help with Desmos. As she worked with it today, the issue of testing came up. It was awesome to learn about using Desmos to test and how that works. Since I can't do it justice, I want to direct you to a fantastic blog post that Maria wrote called Strategies for Giving Tests with Desmos Graphing Calculator.

Watching the evolution of the training we're providing and how we're adjusting it to make it work better for faculty has been really rewarding. Maria is so knowledgeable in so many areas. Because of that, we're branching out to all STEM fields, not just math and science, as well as economics and finance, to help with teaching online at the college level. Our new program is called Taking STEM Online. The next cohort starts on May 16. We've added more to the upcoming offering from our current pilot cohort. Check out this page for information.

In this short video from Maria, she explains what we're offering and what you can get out of it.
